India: A Knowledge Centered Civilization Through Videos

India has been the birthplace of numerous intellectual, spiritual, religious, scientific, mathematical, and philosophical traditions that have sustained for millennia. However, the connection to Indian heritage for children of the Indian diaspora appears to weaken with each successive generation. The Pearls of India Foundation aims to revive and reconnect children to India's rich heritage through the creation of age-appropriate short videos that highlight India's knowledge-centered civilization.

The proposed series will cover over sixty subject areas, ranging from the origins of the universe to the philosophical aspects of the Vedas and the Upanishads, and each episode will incorporate age-appropriate elements and levels of complexity. These videos are expected to deliver high production values, with professional writing, animation, graphics, and music. The target audience is Indian American children, but the videos will likely appeal to children of Indian origin anywhere. A total of 600 videos are planned with 100 videos for each age segment. The videos will be delivered electronically using social media and internet channels such as YouTube.

To achieve this goal, we need volunteers who are passionate about Indian civilization and willing to devote several hours a week to help create Meta Data for a corpus of research publications. The Meta Data will be entered into a Digital Catalog on a cloud platform, and each paper will be briefly reviewed, and its keywords and classification entered into the Meta Data. Preference will be given to full-time students with proficiency in using web applications, and a stipend will be provided based on the quality of work.

We also need funding for this project. If you are interested in supporting our cause, please contact ratnam [dot] chitturi [at] pearlsofindia [dot] org for more information.
